“Run!” is the second main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance. This walkthrough will guide you through all the steps of the entire “Run!” main mission.
This quest automatically starts after finishing “Unexpected Visit“.
Get a Horse
The quest starts outside Skalitz. Run down the hill and away from the enemies. Along the way you will hear a woman called Theresa (the Skalitz Miller’s daughter) crying for help. Helping her is optional but unlocks the Cavalier trophy/achievement.
The horse is downhill near Theresa.
Ride to Talmberg
This is easy enough when you go into this section with full health. Double tap / to make your horse run faster. When the horse’s stamina is low hold the button to gallop. Reach Talmberg in one piece, try to keep as much distance as possible between you and the enemies. When they are about to fire arrows at you be sure to double press to go faster.
Talk to Sir Robard
Once you arrive in Talmberg you must talk to the head of the Talmberg army called Sir Robard. Afterwards, follow him to Talmberg’s ruler and then to the kitchen. In the kitchen you meet Lady Stephanie.
Eat / Go to the Courtyard Lodge to Sleep there Until Morning
In the kitchen there is food on the table you can take. When you pick it up it goes in your inventory. From your inventory hold / to consume the food you just picked up. Next stop is the shed in the Talmberg courtyard. There is a bed waiting for you there. Sit on the bed and sleep. You will wake up in the middle of the night, a cutscene starts and you see Lady Stephanie walking in. Talk to her. Always pick the speech options at the top. Lady Stephanie only has speech level 2. If yours is higher than level 2 you will succeed in all dialogues. It doesn’t really matter though what you do here.
Go to the Battlements and talk to Sir Robard
After Stephanie leaves you go back to sleep and wake up later again. People are preparing for an invasion and you are supposed to help. Go talk to Robard on the walls of the castle. From the courtyard go upstairs, he is standing on the castle wall behind the main building.
Wait Until Morning / Go to the Battlements of the Outer Bailey
Robard will ask you to help and look out for potential attackers. You can talk to the other soldiers standing on the wall if you like. They will tell you to lean against the wall and wait. To wait you can press Touchpad (PS4) and then choose to wait until morning. In the morning you get a new quest marker to go to another wall. Go there and you’ll see a lengthy cutscene.
Get Out of the Castle / Get a Horse
To get out of the castle is the tricky part of the “Run!” Quest. Here you have to get creative, there are many ways to get out.
The easiest option is to get caught stealing something or attack a guard. Let them catch you and surrender, then they will throw you out. No horse for you though.
You can also jump over the little bridge between the castle and the exit gate but it only works in a certain spot, at the end of the bridge. This works with and without a horse! Go get the horse from the stables by the castle. Your horse is the second from the right. You’ll know it’s yours because the button prompt says “Mount” instead of “Steal”. Ride to the bridge and drop down the bridge with the horse.
Bury your loved ones in Skalitz
Head back to Skalitz. On the way there you will get a cutscene and the next main quest “Homecoming” begins. There are quest markers guiding you there (see the marker on the compass at the top of the screen).
Next up: Homecoming Main Quest.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Fastest Horse
Horses are an expensive commodity in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but there’s one addition that seems curiously absent for most players. While you can purchase a bridle, saddle, and horseshoes for your trusty steed, there doesn’t appear to be any horse armor. You can’t buy horse armor in stores, and you can’t get it as a DLC item (i.e. Skyrim) — so where’s the horse armor?
It’s actually located in a secret hideaway that’s pretty tricky to find. You’ll have to explore the forests and find a giant nest with a dead horse inside. Is this an Easter egg? It’s definitely something strange, because this horse has the only known piece of horse armor in all of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Where To Find Secret Horse Armor | Location Guide
Horse armor is extremely rare, and (so far) we only know one location where it can be obtained. The armor is for the head of the horse, and increases defense when equipped. It also looks really cool, and makes your horse look all-around fancier. If you’re a warrior with full plate armor, and you’ve got all the accessories for your horse, then this horse armor is well-worth it.
To actually find the horse armor, travel into the deep woods east of Ledetchko. Navigate around the cliffs until you can reach the upper edges of the tall cliffside. On the edge, you’ll find a very strange sight — there’s a dead horse in a giant nest. You can see the nest from below.
Navigate up and around to the nest, then use the bushes to jump into the nest itself. You can actually stand on bushes for a moment before sinking. Loot the nest to get the horse armor.
So, why is this horse armor so hard to find? We can only guess that this is cut content, thrown into a weird Easter egg, and only included for players willing to look. In the future, there will probably be a more “official” horse armor, but for now this is the best your horse is going to get.

Four-legged friends are fun, and in Kingdom Come Deliverance, they’re useful as well. Not only do they help you to travel a heck of a lot faster, but they carry your stuff too – making a trusty steed your most valuable asset in 15th Century Bohemia.
While we’ll go over some ways to get yourself an equine chum for free, stronger and faster horses are available to buy around the kingdom. If you find yourself in need of a few more Groschen, check out our guide to making money in Kingdom Come Deliverance.
How to get a horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance –
In Talmberg:
As part of the main story quest, you have to leave Talmberg castle by any means you can.
One way to do this is by stealing a uniform from the watchtower on the castle’s battlements, which means the guards won’t recognise Henry and let him out of the gates.

We have a full guide on how to get out of Talmberg and get the Talmberg armour if you’re stuck.
If you successfully steal the uniform, you can walk to the stable next to the main gate before you leave and mount a horse. Then you can ride out of the gate and off to Skalitz with everyone none the wiser.
Look specifically for the horse that says “mount” rather than “mount and steal”, otherwise you’ll be arrested.
In Rattay:
As you follow the main story quest you’ll eventually come to Rattay, where you’ll serve with the town guard and go hunting with nobleman Hans Capon. The hunting quest is called “The Prey”, and once you’re finished with it, your actions will be rewarded by Sir Hanush and Sir Radzig with horse of your own.
This way you’re acquiring the horse through legitimate means, which works best if you’re trying to roleplay a noble character.
Kingdom Come Deliverance How To Get Horse Free
Best horses in Kingdom Come Deliverance
The fastest, strongest and most enduring beasts of burden in all of Bohemia are available to buy from horse traders around Bohemia. Horses are arranged into tiers, with Tier 5 being the best. Some Tier 4 horses have special traits which are worth mentioning though.
Jenda is the most balanced horse in the game, boasting high stats across the board, but is also the most expensive. The name of the horse is a tribute to the Warhorse Studios dog, also called Jenda, who sadly passed away in 2016. Best place of building drainage plumbing and heating.
With the highest courage in Kingdom Come Deliverance, Kanthaka is a great horse to ride into battle. Kanthaka comes from Buddhist tradition, and was said to have been ridden by Buddha himself.
Sleipnir has a great balance of speed, capacity and courage. This horse is doubly awesome, because its name comes from an eight-legged horse ridden by Odin in Norse mythology.
A massive stamina stat makes Chollima stand out from other horses, and its name comes from a mythical winged horse depicted in Chinese and Korean classical stories.
If you got particularly sticky fingers, Bucephalus might be the horse for you, since it has the high carry capacity in the game. Its name comes from the horse ridden by King Alexander the Great.
A lot of people are familiar with the Greek mythological horse Pegasus. In Kingdom Come Deliverance, he’s the fastest horse in the game, with a massive speed stat of 42.
More of an Easter egg than a really great horse, we had to mention Epona from the Legend of Zelda series. She’s skittish, but has good stats elsewhere, and is a much cheaper option than the other horses.
Kingdom Come Deliverance isn’t a straightforward game by any means, and one of the trickiest mechanics is lockpicking. If you need help, take a look at our lockpicking tips.
